.ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
A chance encounter with family during a weekend in Long Beach Island, NJ led us to a massive, 20 year old deck that was to be torn down and rebuilt. We immediately seized the opportunity and were given the green light to pick away at the pristine weathered wood before demolition. In late August we spent two days prying up boards and hauling them off before the demo crew trashed the deck. Over a hundred boards a thousand nails, a couple backaches and countless splinters later, we had the makings of our exhibit.
After carting all of the wood up to our studio in Northern NJ and some careful consulting with a prominent NJ engineer, we started cutting and assembling. It took the two of us (with a little help from Willy, NAUTI's Chocolate Lab) about 100 hours over the course of late early December to complete what you see before you. We used split rail fencing as the framework, and donated vintage catamaran sails that we rigged as our backdrop.
We feel this is the perfect medium to debut the NAUTI & CO. Summer 2011 Collection. Not only does the aesthetic reflect our brand, it was also constructed solely by us and represents our hard work, dedication and creativity we have put into our products.
